So it brings hope with an alarm that difficult time is to pass. Among those heavenly beings, Ramiel is tasked to bring hope to those who are suffering. He is specifically identified as the archangel of hope. He is depicted holding a thunderbolt.

The name ‘Ramiel’ itself means, "the thunder of God", relating him to the thunder in a drought. Other than bringing hope to those who’ve lost it, Ramiel also help understand divine visions and tangled visions. It is believed that if he is called, Ramiel help to let go of earthly bonds, especially when one is going to pass this world. He guides the souls of the faithful to Heaven. Archangel Samael is the angel of death and sure to be encountered when the soul leaves the human body. But if one lives faithfully and a holy life, it is believed that along with Samael, Ramiel also visit the parting soul. Even though Samael possess terrifying looks, with the presence of ramiel, the fear is replaced with hope for the coming life. So if you don’t want to fall into the fearful hands of Samael, it’s best to live a holy life and pray for ramiel’s presence at the end time.

He would free those who from in pain at their death bed, and guide them in their path that is to be taken. It is believed, Ramiel fill the soul that is to leave this world with courage to let go, and to find peace within. He is mentioned in Baruch, which is a Jewish text, as the ruler of true visions. Ramiel appears in one of King Baruch visions, and help him to understand the god’s message. He is called Jeremiel or Uriel in various translations of Esdras, which is an English version of the bible. He brings the responsibilities tasked by god to angels, especially to archangels. So he could be considered as the messenger within heavenly beings. But unlike Archangel Gabriel, he does not convey messages to humans. He only help them to understand vision that were caused by god or some other angel.

Ramiel also has a destructive nature. He is the angel who brought destruction to the armies of King Sennacherib, who was the king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. So he is a warrior angel, defeating those who act against god.

According to the book of Enoch, Ramiel is one of those beings whose existence vacillates between both heaven and hell. In the text, he is renounced as a heavenly being, listing as one of the seven Holy Angels. But it also mention Ramiel as a one of the leaders of the watchers. He, with his fellow angels lust for the beauty of the mortal women and betrayed the heavenly cause god vested on them. Together with a human women, they gave birth to human-angel hybrids, who were called the Nephilim. These offspring had the angelic strength and human appearance and brought destruction upon humans. For this deed, they fell from heaven.

Little is known of the angel and the contradiction in the book of enoch, opens path to question as if the being is holy or evil.
